About Chris




Over the past 30 years Chris has deeply engaged in myriad aspects of responsible tourism development and human powered outdoor recreation spanning more than 80 countries. Classically trained in communications, public relations, marketing and journalism, he has developed and honed a diverse and related suite of skills and expertise delivering vision, leadership, high-impact results, innovative strategies and creative solutions benefiting tourism, outdoor gear/apparel, fashion, retail (brick & mortar + e-commerce) and publishing industries.

For the past 16 years, Chris has served an influential role in the strategic direction and innovative development of the Adventure Travel Trade Association, global organization focused on sustainable tourism development with more than 1,300 members in 100 countries worldwide. Throughout his tenure overseeing the ATTA’s development efforts throughout Europe and Central Asia, he served as a strategic advisor to public and private organizations, tourism boards and ministries, DMOs, NGOs and development agencies.

Recognized as an inspirational speaker and innovator, he continues to serve as an AdventureEDU facilitator/instructor of best practices and long-range responsible tourism development planning. And, to deepen his understanding of, and commitment to, sustainable futures in tourism, he invested in and successfully completed the following professional development training programs and earned the following designations:

Global Sustainable Training Council (GSTC) Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP) – Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism

Travelife Sustainability Management Training for Tour Operators & Travel Agents – Travelife Sustainability Manager

With his work with responsible tourism development, Chris has intensified his pursuit of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to explore predictive modeling solutions for sustainability in society, adaptive reuse strategies, and rejuvenation of rural communities suffering from human migration to urban centers. Within these areas, he is steering more of his energy toward food, culinary, viticultural and agrotourism experiences.

Chris is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. He is married to Emma, and has four children, Moa, Lyra, Aidan, and Elliot.
